Chico...so many changes~

Hey Faaaaam! Soooo many new things!
Emma Robertson, Sister Cowden and I
Numero Uno. I've left Rocklin! Sister Cowden and I both left. This is what's called getting shotgunned out because the new missionaries have to figure everything out on there own. Sooo... we had lots of fun leaving as many notes as we could. Sister Cowden and I had an awesome last week! We taught and then when we found out we were both leaving we tried to say bye and explain the situation to as many people as we could, all the while having fun. This was an awesome transfer in Rocklin with Sister Cowden and I miss my friends made there.
But...
Numero Dos. I've been assigned to Chico! And I am shotgunning (you know, coming in with another missionary both fresh to the area with no guidance). Hahaha And I'm double covering again. I'm serving in a Spanish branch and an English Ward. No. I don't speak Spanish. My companion does. And I'm trying my hardest to learn. It's been an adventure for sure.
Sister Orton and I
My companion is Sister Orton! I've already lived with her for 4.5 months in the Gridley house which had the Spanish sisters in it. I love her so so much. We're so excited to tackle Chico together and harvest the awesome work the sisters before us did.
We have two people on date in the spanish Ward. They are this sweet couple that I just love sooo much! Miguel and Blanca. Hey don't know any English so I feel bad, but right now my companion is doing the teaching. But I just try to love them. The former branch president said that his wife didn't speak Spanish, but that she could hug in spanish. So I've taken that to action and remembered that love is the universal language. I just love them so much and hope that I can learn enough Spanish to help soon. After my first Sunday, my companion taught me enough Spanish to help me pray. So hopefully I get the chance to incorporate that. :)

We also are working with this girl named Yaiza! She is the sweetest! I love her so much! She has been taught by the missionaries for just a couple months now and has had previous baptismal dates. It is really sweet to watch as she shows her testimony of the gospel by making the changes she feels she needs. She comes to church every week and has lessons with us and came to a dinner last night with us and bishop! It was so much fun. I just love getting to know her and getting to know this Ward.
We go over to this guy Tony's house every day for 10 minutes. He just got out of the hospital and is pretty much on his own. We go to encourage him in his effort in the changes he is making. He came to church yesterday! So yay! That was exciting! But he was pretty wiped out and exhausted. I'm so proud of him. It is so much fun to just love people!

We met this Spanish family in Corning that are just soo awesome. It was kind of a miracle how we met them. We had no idea they were members because they attend the Corning Ward. But it just happened to be just what both the family and we needed. It was so awesome. Earlier that day we talked to a Spanish guy for 45 minutes that basically told us we were going to hell because we were teaching false doctrine.... sooo it's not that big of a deal, but we were in need of a tender mercy.
Paradise is beautiful! It has this giant canyon that runs along the road. It is gorgeous! We cover the stake for Spanish so we go a bit of everywhere. Chico and all the little towns around it are all pretty much super sketch though. Haha coming from Rocklin to Chico Spanish has definitely been a turn of tables. It's taken some time to adjust. Also... today in Paradise we accidentally met this really interesting man named Ken...

Just thought I would get that down on the books. In Hamilton City we went down an alley looking for a certain house with an address number and Sister Orton says hey there's 4-2-0! I look over and spray painted there is a 420 on a wooden fence next to some painted Spanish words. Quickly she says oh... I just laughed and we got out of there and never found that house.... we later found this really really sketchy public restroom... hahaha I'll just have to send pics....I share we're smart and safe. It's an adventure out here. Everyday we have a new catastrophe, but it's a good thing Sister Orton and I are pretty good at laughing things off. 😄

Sorry this email is a little scattered! Chico has been full of miracles since we've gotten here. We've had some mishaps and many tender mercies. I am so very grateful to be here serving God. I am happy to be where the mission president needs me. I am so excited to be in Chico again. I love getting to attend a branch again. I really missed it. I definitely have a partialness to small branches. I miss mine back at home and think of it often.

I know that we are being watched over and taken care of. I am learning more and more about the gospel still!!! My testimony of the plan of salvation is growing. I have a testimony of Joseph Smith and the work that God had him do at the perfect timing. And because Joseph Smith was that vessel for God we have knowledge of God's plan for us. We have clarification on doctrine. We know God is our father and loves us and we know that Jesus Christ is our brother and also loves us. We know that we can have the Holy Spirit with us always. I am grateful for this and I love sharing it.
I hope y'all are having a fantastic week. I love ya!

Mission Conference

Helloooo! It's me! ... Helllooo on the other siiiiide!☺️
Well this week kind of went down and back up. A little like a roller coaster. 🎢
First of all, Joe isn't getting baptized this Saturday, but we accomplished towards the end of the week that he does want to get baptized. He's just figuring out a routine for summer. So Sister Cowden and I were relieved after our chat with him on Saturday. We had a really awesome chat with our bishop in 5h Ward about  making a plan to contact him daily. We're super excited to meet with him this week with lots of friends from the church.
Almost every lesson we had set this week cancelled. As a whole, it was a week of miracles in finding and tracting, but at first glance it was pretty flakey!
This Thursday we have our last zone conference before President Marston leaves. He has until the 29th. And I should get my last interview with President sometime this week. He's a busy busy man. I can't wait for him to return to his family. He's been a very loving and motivated mission president for the last 3 years.

Love Endures All!

July 3, 2017
Hey! I got something to say!!!!
So background on Rocklin - more than any other city, EVERYONE leaves on holidays. It definitely changes the work! Also, Rocklin is one of the most transitory cities to live. Transitory? I think that's the word I want. What I mean is everyone moves back and forth and back and forth or just in Rocklin for a job that's going to move them in not too long. I wish we would have counted the number of uhauls we saw this week. We saw two or three about every time we got in our car! Also we are getting really skilled at packing and moving people around. I never ever want to move. Either that or I don't want stuff. Sometimes when packing people I just want to bring the dumpster to the back door and toss a lot of it. Things that I'm just like, "don't clutter your new house with this! Don't do it!" I want the bare minimum. I am so tired of stuff that clutters my life. But I DO love when people give us the opportunity to help them pack up while we get a chance to get to know them. That's something I love - people. Even though packing can get a little mundane and even frustrating sometimes, I love getting to know and spend time with the people. I learn so much from all the different people I meet. It's a very neat experience to learn from so many people of different culture, status, beliefs, or just different way of life.

I can instantly love these people and that is a gift I've found here that I hope never leaves. It is the greatest feeling to love. I feel like I had quite the epiphany after dinner when sharing a spiritual thought. Now, don't take this as doctrine, but it is something that rang true to me and just kept ringing for a couple days. I just couldn't believe the thought that came to me. The thought is that Love is the language of the spirit. It truly is and I truly believe that. If there is no love the spirit is not there. Love is how I feel the spirit. It is through love that the spirit speaks to me. And I have never truly been able to help someone else unless I loved them first. Of the effect that I have been blessed to see from my missionary work, I see the tie to the Love that I had - not any teaching skill, knowledge, or talent. But LOVE! It was the driving force for persistence, diligence, patience, service, faith, or hope. There are times when I have a deep love for a person I've just met and I have no idea why. I know that the spirit guides us in our work and strengthens us to do God's work. It is just the most amazing feeling and I'm quite sad that missionaries must go home one day, but going home doesn't change much. We can use what we learn and live the way we've paved our path to live, but with our families when we do return home. It's exciting the things we learn! Everyday my companion Sister Cowden and I have been talking about our amazement of what we learn from people.

We had a great talk with Joe this week. We sat out on his front lawn with just him. He really opened up and shared some news with us regarding his family. It was really an awesome chat. The spirit was felt and we were able to continue to work towards his goals and we expressed our love for him. I know that Joe will get baptized soon. He may need some time, but he has a burning testimony and a great relationship with Heavenly Father. He still expresses desire to serve a mission. I am very proud of him and can't wait to watch him as he holds onto the blessings the gospel of Jesus Christ teaches and offers.

Thursday our mission president and wife President and Sister Marston went home. I cherish them so much! They worked so hard here for three years and Loved everyone so deeply. If there's anything they will be remembered by it is LOVE. The LOVE they had for all the missionaries and people they met just poured out of them. I am so happy for them to be home with their family! Our new mission president and wife are President and Sister Ward. I am so excited to meet them! I get to meet them tomorrow! We have a meet the president Conference tomorrow on the 4th. The assistants have said so many awesome things about them! It makes me so excited to meet them and really get to know them. :D We'll see how it goes.

Going to Chico...Spanish Speaking!
Transfers sound like they are going to be pretty crazy! Just because there are so many changes. I'll let ya know the inside scoop next week! :D

Love you guys with all my heart! ❤️

Starbucks!

June 26, 2017
Hi hi hi fam! 👋
This week has been a fantastic week! I've learned so many things and had lots of opportunities to serve, teach and also learn!

To start the week, we had exchanges! I went to Granite Bay with Sister Kikel and we had so much fun! I love getting to know the other sisters in the mission. I also love getting to experience other areas. We had a lot of errands on this day. Like watering flowers and other little appointments, but we were able to talk to one of their investigators who let us in and invited us back. It was pretty exciting. Apparently they haven't been able to get ahold of him all transfer. He and his wife were very nice. They were asking us questions though without even letting us answer them. But hopefully when they go back they will be able to answer all of their questions in full. :)

We had interviews with President Marston after exchanges because we had a lesson during the last interviews and we missed them. So this week has been a lot of lasts with President. It's been bitter-sweet. President Marston and I had our last interview together. We talked about how coal is turned into diamonds with pressure and heat. He related that to us as we go about our mission and asked how he could help us continue to become those diamonds. It was a great opportunity to talk to him again. Interviews are always the best!

Ok. An experience I can't quit laughing about. We met this guy and set up a lesson with him at Starbucks. We can't meet in the home of a male without another female present. So he insisted on meeting us at Starbucks. Sooo... Imagine this. Sister Cowden and I, two Mormon missionary sisters, are set out to find this Starbucks We first go completely in the wrong direction to the taco bell that we knew because Costa said it was by a Taco Bell. We went in and asked where the nearest Starbucks was. We were directed the other way just down the street from our apartments. We thought ok! We've actually seen that before. We get there and no Costa. Costa calls us and says he's waiting for us. We were so confused! There must be another Starbucks. Were at the wrong one! So we get back in and hurriedly follow the directions he gave us. We entered Roseville and found the Starbucks there. He calls us again and we tell him we've arrived! We go in and Costa is not there. What?! I asked the workers if there was another Starbucks close by and they start talking about several around the area. We were like what are we doing? Why are there so many Starbucks? Why have we never noticed all these Starbucks? He mentions a street name that was familiar from Costa's original instructions. We were like that's it! That's the one! So we got back in the car and headed to Starbucks... again. This time we finally made it! 30 minutes late to our Starbucks meeting with Costa. Lol I guess what can you expect when you ask the sister missionaries to find you at one of the biggest coffee chains. Clueless! So we go on to have our lesson with Costa giving him a Book of Mormon and really getting in depth with the history of the Jews because that's what Costa loves. We soon jump to Costa's yell, "FATHER!" We turn around and Costa has already stood up and ran to hug the minister of another church dressed in full on robes and cross necklace. I smiled real big and introduced myself to him. I've decided awkward situations like that give me confidence and energy because inside I'm bursting out laughing at the situation.... and maybe a little on the outside. So we had some drinks (no coffee or tea) with Costa and attempted to have a spiritual discussion in Starbucks with some pretty good music going. It was quite the feat we were tackling. Hahaha But it's ok because we tried our best. :D

Friday we had our last Zone conference with President Marston. It was one of the most testimony strengthening days I've had. Just listening to all the mission presidency bear testimony of the Book of Mormon and of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for the leaders we have in the mission and that I came on a mission. I was struggling a bit with a certain fear for myself. And President Marston did the neatest thing. With the keys that he holds, he blessed us as a group. It was one of the most beautiful blessings I've ever heard. I bawled just a little. I couldn't help it. My testimony grew so much. He addressed the very things that I needed. I had been in need of that blessing for quite awhile and I can't believe how it was addressed to my needs. I was later talking to another sister and she felt like it was for her and her needs. It's amazing the power that God has through men who worthily hold and exercise the priesthood. I'm so grateful for this in my life and never want to live without it. I am going to miss President and Sister Marston. I love them so much. Also President gave each of the sisters hugs before we left. It was the greatest thing! :)

Another neat experience form this week was right before dinner one day, we were trying so hard to be diligent. We were getting a little frustrated, some probably due to the heat and dehydration. But we got to this apartment complex and we wanted to get to this certain one. So in our determination, we walked around the complex towards the one we were looking for. To our dismay, there was a gate between us and the apartment we wanted. A gate! Why would there be this random gate splitting this complex into two different sections? That was dumb. We were so frustrated and walking this gate and just loathing it the whole time, hoping it would end. We thought several times of jumping it, but... skirts... and we'd have to jump it again to get back. We were just so set on what we wanted to accomplish before dinner. Then, Sister Cowden looks at our area book and sees well... I guess there is this other family somewhere around here. Not kidding - we literally look up and it is directly in front of us. We felt kind of slapped in the face. Here we are just walking this fence and complaining of the stupidity that there would be a fence there and the whole time the family that we were really supposed to see was right in front of us. No matter how much we want something, sometimes our Heavenly Father says no. But his plan is always a better plan. We were able to see this family and set up an appointment with them. Most of the time we loath that fence holding us back and we walk it hoping that one day it will end. We contemplate jumping it. But in reality that fence is directing us in the path that we should go.

Love you guys more than anything. I sure miss ya.

Happy Mother's Day

Hey family! I am doing so wonderful here in Rocklin. This is the last week before my companion goes home and I have every ounce of intent to go all out this week between the many departing activities that go on this week.

I got to talk to my mama! ☺️ Yay! Happy Mother's Day! We had so much fun skyping! I saw all my family! My favorite part was watching my two oldest nieces, ages 3 and 4, sing their favorite primary songs. It was sooo cuuuute! ☺️
Miracles! It is so much fun being in this area. I love it so much. The youth here are amazing and I love helping them find missionary opportunities, and I also love that I always get to be a part of all of their faith filled missionary finds. It is such a blessing.
We are still teaching Savannah who has already done 4years of seminary and is going to BYUI. She is getting baptized this Saturday. I LOVE her!
The Mondell family is moving into 5th Ward which is honestly such a blessing! Not that they are moving out of our Ward. I'm sad about that. But we've known they were moving somewhere anyway. We will miss them, but of all wards, this is one of the next best. The reason is that they will get connected with the YSA sisters! It'll be great! :) The Mondells are going to LOVE Sister Thomas! Brother Mondell still very much wants to continue meeting with the missionaries.
Ok. Miracle! Joe is a new 16 year old investigator. We briefly came in contact with him at youth conference. We were asked to attend part of it since there were so many nonmembers. Like I said - the youth are amazing. He is one of the most sincere, respectful kids I know. Anyway we got a text from our bishop asking us to call the Ellis family who is Joe's neighbor. Long story short- Joe was asking the Ellis family about baptism and when he should serve a mission. Like what!? I was so so so excited so we met him the next day and set up another time to meet. We've had a couple lessons with him now and he wants to get baptized as soon as possible. I'm so excited! 🙌🏼
Love you guys so so so much! Take care!

Hello friends! And Family! What a wonderful week it has been! At least here in California! 😉 🏖 seriously though! It's been sooo nice! I'm just soakin' it up before it turns into a major heat wave all summer long. Plus the mosquitos are starting to come out again. Too bad there're no firelflies out here. That would be something fun to look forward. It feels about time for them to come out. Maybe not quite yet, but soon. One night, Sister Lloyd and I just went outside and laid on the grass (because no chigars in California... weird!) and watched the stars for a couple minutes. Ah! Summertime is nearing and I am soo excited! I just may have to be reminded that when the heat fully comes in. I've already got a pretty good missionary tan goin'... 😂 it's fine. That's why I'm coming home in the middle of the winter. So no weird tan lines... haha I hope everyone else is as excited for summer as I am!

Monday night after p-day, we were invited to this small, exclusive event with this historian that collects and buys old books. Mostly old scriptures. It was sooo cool! He had a first edition King James Bible. It was huge! He had little thumb bibles. One that was Joseph Smith's own bible. He had so many prophet's scriptures. He had sooo many things. I can't remember it all anymore, but it was way cool. I learned a lot. And love the stories of our prophets. It's great. History is pretty fun sometimes! :) each artifact told its own little story.
This week was so great! We did a lot of behind the scene cleaning of the area Book and dividing it. We have a goal to see 90% of the potential investigators in our area Book and 50% of the formers who haven't been contacted within the last 6 months. It'll be a hard sweat fun!
We got to go see a girl who had talked to a member with a bunch of questions beforehand and then the member asked if she would like to meet with us and here we are! Just doing our job! 😉 haha it was amazing. The girl was sooo cute! She was totally cool with learning. I'm sad we don't get to continue to teach her, but happy for her as we are going to have the Young Single Adult sisters teach her after next week.
In one of our lessons with a recent convert we were studying a talk called Return and Receive from the last general Conference. It is sooo good. I've just been reading it so carefully trying to apply it to my goal setting. Y'all should read it! I've found so much fun in setting goals and achieving them.
We had another great lesson with Brother Mondell. He is so awesome! I love teaching their family. I try so hard to have the spirit with me so that one of these times, the spirit will touch his heart in a way that he can recognize the answers he is seeking. He is towards the end of 3 Nephi now.
I wanted to share a quote from my Tuesday studies, but decided it was a little too long and I'll share my testimony instead. :D I know the scriptures to be the word of God - translated by the power of God. Every. Single. Testament. From the Old Testament to the New Testament and especially to the newest Testament - the Book of Mormon. All testaments of Jesus Christ - His divinity, love, nature, mission, life, teachings, death, resurrection, healing power, and more. All of this testified most powerfully through the scriptures. I am so grateful that God has granted us scripture to help guide us in our lives. I am also very grateful that we have the spirit to confirm these things so that we can come to know them for ourselves.
Love y'all!

It's a long one!

So Monday I got to play basketball for awhile, but that's not that fun because the elders don't guard me and all the sisters in my zone are like 5 feet tall. And none of them want to play anyway. But anyway, we played volleyball for hours! That was so awesome. I was frustrated with my serves because they always went over and in, but I could tell I let myself get weak. Even my sets were off. Not bad, but off. I'm going to need to practice. I haven't really gotten to play volleyball for so many months. Too many months. I'm not even that good. I don't know why I like it so much. I just do. But since I played so hard in pday yesterday, it was the first time in a while that I simply rolled out of bed right at 6:30 said my prayers went to the restroom, got dressed and was waiting on my companion to go to the gym. We went and I actually ran the treadmill the entire 30 minutes we were there and was sweaty, exhausted, and hustling to the shower. I easily took a short shower and got ready for the day.
Anyway I am so energized and ready to go. We left at 10 for a service activity at an assisted living, but it was cancelled when we got there. Apparently they are all in quarantine. So we contacted a less active who is best on Tuesday mornings. We hadn't met her yet. Sister Hilton the relief society president talked to her once and found out that she was a less active in our Ward. When we got there Tasha was sooo nice. She just seems like a solid person. She said that Tuesday mornings do usually work better for her, but today she is really busy with some MRI appointments and things. She was on her way out. We got her birthday so that we can get her records in our Ward and gave her our phone number. :D next I had to go to the restroom really bad (I drank 3 bottles of water already at 11) so we tried a member, but they weren't home so I ended up asking a nice lady we talked to when we got out of our car, Kate. Her husband is from the reorganized church. She's catholic. She's not interested. We knocked a door of another less active we've never met, Barbara. No answer. Then we tracted the rest of that half of the street. They tracted the other half last week.

We just had comp study and it was sooo good. It went a little longer than it probably should, but it was just so good. We got so deep. So refreshing. Sister Smith helped me understand some things I read in Matthew and then we talked about studies and what has worked for us in the past. We talked about pride and the different types of pride. We also talked about goals we set in life and just in general and I drew so many insights from this conversation. I realized that sometimes our lack of confidence is ironically caused by pride. Also, I learned this. Don't miss the mark with your goals. Think of who you want to become not what you want to do. I don't know if these things are powerful to anyone else, but they are pretty powerful to me. :) these are just thoughts I had as we were talking and they felt like mysteries unfolded.

We contacted the Newton family to see if they would like help moving into their new Ward. They are a part member family. We will probably get the missionaries from their new Ward to help them with us on Saturday morning. Then we tried to contact someone else who wasn't home. We went and met the Byrd family. They apparently "want to come back to church".  Then we went to meet the Hayes family. We found out that they are selling their house, but probably staying in the Ward according to the son, Dustin. His parents weren't home. We left our number and our offer to help them move. We'll try them again next week. Now I am home with whitener on my teeth and stressing about the fact that I haven't studied for interviews and district meeting tomorrow. But it's fine... also things that I didn't mention are... I was soooo sore today! I love being able to feel my muscles ache, but man the longer the day went the less able I was to get in and out of the car! Also. Our toilet paper is see through. The first day I used it I was like what is this?!?!? It is literally see through. I get that we're poor. But see through? Like that stuff would make great windows. Seriously. You don't skimp out on that stuff. That's just gross. Haha I'm getting used to it though I guess. Anyway good night! Fare well! Catch ya in the morning!

I had a GREAT day today! We got up and I ran the treadmill again. This time I went faster. Covered the same distance in less time. Because we were a little late getting up there. But I still got it in. It was a little tougher this time. The entire time I just thought I could do it. I could hit that cool down button or the stop button. I could just do it right now. I was hurting and it was probably near the beginning that I started thinking this. And I told myself I would go to 23 minutes and then I could stop. It seemed like forever at times. That reminded me about the mission. We have this 18 month time limit. The speed and distance we go are up to us. At any time we can hit that cool down button or even the stop button. It hurts. And we could just press the stop button and walk away. Maybe try dinking around on one of the other machines or just walk out of there completely. You know like we could just give up Religion completely. Get where I'm going here? We can hit the cool down button by not giving it out all. By laying around or sitting in the idle car talking. Catching wifi at the church for awhile. But even though it hurts - it will hurt - we must keep running and after a while even turn up the speed a little. Yeah it hurts. But it's the best feeling when you do finally get off that treadmill.

District meeting was all about prayer.. So the training plan was all about prayer. And we also had interviews so I found the scripture that I wanted to share about peace with President Marston. That's the new Easter initiative. Prince of Peace. So we are supposed to be studying it. We had district meeting and interviews and both were just awesome! I love President and Sister Marston! They're so awesome! Also I love my district!!! It was a great morning. We had lunch at subway with everyone and then Sister Smith and I headed out to companionship study. It was really good too. I don't remember exactly what we talked about now, but it was really good. Then we headed out to do some finding. Nobody answered the door. NOBODY! I had to go to the restroom so bad so we switched to active members and still nobody was ever home! I was dying, I was going to pass out. Literally felt like I was going to pass out. Finally we found one home and after permission busted in there and used the restroom. That was the most dramatic thing of the entire day. Then we had dinner with the Orchard family. They're really cool and super healthy. I really enjoyed dinner with them, but we talked forever. I need to get better at one hour dinners. But sometimes once I'm in I don't want to go back out. It's not good. It's bad. After that we had a lesson with the Donnivans. Kirk is a recent convert that moved here right after his baptism. He used to be jehovah witness so his story is really interesting because they are not supposed to associate with people of other faiths. You don't see many of those converting. But he is sooo solid. It's fun to teach him and his wife Waverly is a great member present. Then we came home and I crashed.

This morning was really tough to get up. I didn't exercise very well. Or get ready very fast. Idk. I'm kind of in a funk today. But that's ok. I'll reset tonight. But I had a great study. I studied Matthew. I've started reading the New Testament every day. I really like what I read there. I looked for a talk about temples because both of my wards said that was their focus or goal for the ward right now. But I found this talk and started reading it and really really liked it. It was all about peace and how we can gain that. It's called a Pattern for Peace. I didn't finish it, but I really loved it. The Hank Smith talk we were listening to in the car started talking about the same scripture the talk was based off of. So that was cool!

I don't really really remember the rest of the day. I know we played kings in the corner and poker at a retirement facility with the old folks. That was really fun! They are a crack up!

Today was weekly planning day. We had a lesson with this lady named Kelli this morning. We read Mosiah 18 with her and talked about it. Wow. I don't remember a whole lot about the lesson, but I feel like she could be baptized within a little while. So that was cool! We did a lot of weekly planning. We had mcm with Brother and Sister Hilton. The wml and relief society Pres of 5th ward. Brother Hilton is the guy that announces on the price is right show. That's cool. I guess... it would be cooler if I'd seen the show.

We did this prayer roll thing as a zone. It is soooo cool! We all get on a conference call and have all put in who we want to pray for and a sentence of what for. And then one person says the prayer and incorporates every area and their people in it. I love this! It really builds the unity when you can hear and pray for each other and the people we are teaching. I'm excited to be able to talk to other missionaries about their people they are teaching because now I know a little bit about it. It's awesome! Best thought I've ever heard. Way to go zone leaders! 🙌🏼Anyway. Tomorrow is exact obedience day for the entire mission. It's a day where we know everyone is putting extra effort in to be doing what they are supposed to be doing anyway. It's good. We had one of these when I was in Gridley. G'night!

Uuuummm... Our day went well. We had a lesson with Mark Mondell. We call him Brother Mondell because he's been investigating for a year. And then a lesson with Sister Marti Mondell. Brother Mondell is this big man who wants to feel a change of heart, but doesn't feel like he has. He's pretty satisfied with his life. He's a very smart man and has worked hard to get where he's at. Except he feels he's missing something. He wants to feel the change of heart soooo bad. I don't know what to do with him. He reads like ten chapters a week. And fasts about twice a week. He wants it to be true so bad. He's so scared that he is going to put all this in and at the end it won't be true. He is trying and applying everything. In the middle of the lesson, he stops to tell us to not give up on him. He started to kind of cry. He wants to know soooo bad. I don't know what to do.....
Sister Mondell's lesson was ok. She almost dropped us. She was just like I'm not making time for my commitments. And she didn't want to waste our time because she knows she won't figure it out if she's not looking. We were like... uuummmm.. All truuuue. Then after talking to her we told her just 5 minutes every day before she job searches. And then we will reevaluate next Saturday. We'll see. I hope she can keep this. Then we did lunch and then tried Gabe who was busy so we did comp study and some finding and and then tracted around dinner and had dinner with the Prillwitz family. The Prillwitz family is really awesome! We left to update progress reports and then Karla wasn't home so we finished our reports up and sent them out.

Sooo... church is like from 8 to 3:30. Because double covering and Ward councils and also meeting with 1st Ward Ward missionaries.  Then we went and tried a bunch of people who weren't home.
Tonight we had a really good heart to heart about life. So many things came out of my mouth that I learned as I spoke. I can't remember everything to write, but I remember talking about teaching and how it's not about the missionary that is in the area as long as that missionary is worthy to and is bringing the spirit. The spirit teaches. It doesn't matter what we say in the lesson. As long as the spirit is there. I remember wondering this week in Brother Mondell's lesson what the spirit is telling him and hoping what i said brought the spirit instead of wondering if what i said was the right thing. That was the first time that I feel like I finally caught the vision that the Holy Ghost truly is the teacher. I am merely there to accompany and invite it. I really finally understand it so much I have looked back and seen it become a part of me. Another subject we got onto was that we have learned so much.

Conference!

I am doing so fabulous here in Rocklin! My companion is obedient and ready to work and all the missionaries in my zone are extra diligent and great missionaries. There's no way to fail here. I mean. I'm not talking about numbers. I'm talking about obedience and working hard. Numbers are actually quite low. Nobody is home and nobody wants to talk to us. We are in a pretty wealthy area with some gated 🏰 communities and other wealthy neighborhoods, but that's ok. Our zone was super like, k! We HAVE to get in the double digits for new investigators this week. So we worked really really hard and checked up on each other throughout the week and we not only got double digits for the first time in a long time in this area, we got four extra! :D 🙌🏼 it was soooo cool. That's how it should be. It feels sooo good to make meaningful goals and actually come together working as hard as we can to reach them. 💪🏼 It's so cool!

This sounds very exaggerative, but I literally have moments when I am with the missionaries in my zone here that I think, "This is Zion. Right here. This is it. I want to stay here and I don't want to leave." Like the other day, we met up with most of our zone to practice for our zone conference song and 4 elders show up with 12 inch subway sandwiches and there were 4 sisters there. One set of sisters showed up later and the APs were traveling with President. So anyway. When the elders found that we hadn't had lunch, they decided they would each half their sandwich and give the sisters one of their halves. 🍔 It took some convincing before we finally gave in and let them share their lunch with us, but we were all sitting at a picnic table eating at the church building and then one of the elders started playing the ukelele and we sang hymns and children songs until everyone had finished eating and then we practiced our zone Conference song, abide with me 'tis eventide. 🎼🎻🎶 It was sooo fun. After this lunch time we all took off to share the spirit we felt, but before we took off we said a prayer together. Ah! Not being on a mission won't be the same. It's so different. And I'm not saying the whole mission's this way. It's not. But this zone is. And I LOVE it. It's Zion. I literally just wanted to happy cry sitting with everyone and realizing how much we LOVE each other. 💕We are so family. Closest zone I've been in since my first transfer and it is out of diligence and love for each other and Heavenly Father.

Monday we went to top golf with 3 other companionships of elders. 🏌🏻‍♀️ Ha! The whole time I was wishing I actually knew how to play golf. 😂I don't know if the elders knew neither my companion or I actually golfed before they invited us. But we had fun! Haha my accomplishment was hitting the ball. 👌🏼A good clean hit was all I wanted. I didn't care how far it went or where it landed. Top Golf is a super fancy golfing place it's way fun! Then we went to a super good Chinese place and I played so much volleyball after that! 🏐I love playing volleyball when people will play with me. It is sooo great. But it also is the reason I struggle with kneeling for my prayers all week long. 🙏🏼 Lol my left knee has bruise on top of bruise because I play like I have knee pads. It's alright. Today we are going to a sand volleyball court instead. That should give me a good break to heal up from the court floor. ☺️

Tuesday we did service in the morning at a thrift store and then lots of cancelled appointments and no answers. That night we had a great lesson on the plan of salvation with a recent convert and his wife. It was so good. This family is very very solid and it is so fun to teach them.

Thursday we had zone Conference and it was sooo soo awesome! I LOVE the time we have to be instructed. I am always so enlightened. 💡 We talked about the new Easter initiative which by the way, you should allll watch! When we practice taught, Sister Marston came and stood with my group again and I was so grateful for the advice she gave. She helped me see that we are not only testifying of Jesus Christ and His Atonement, but of the truths and power that have been restored. I noticed already on Friday in our lesson I was able to apply this knew perspective in my teaching. In our lesson I just felt like I had found a puzzle piece in teaching the restored gospel. It just felt way more powerful and right. Idk. It was so great.

💧 In this lesson Friday we were able to pick a date with Kelli for baptism. It was awesome. The two wards I am covering have not had a convert baptism for years. We are so excited. 🤗 We talked and testified of the Savior's redeeming power that we can take advantage of and the access we have to that because of the restored gospel. She thinks the first vision is just amazing. She loves it and believes the Book of Mormon to be true. She loves that we have modern day prophets. We invited her to come to conference and she seemed excited. We also invited her to read 2 Nephi 31 and think about baptism. We set a date for June 17. 📆 She picked this date herself and said that she would like to be moved in to her new place before baptism. It should still be within the Ward.

General Conference this weekend was inspiring! As always! I LOVE hearing the counsel from the prophets and apostles. This week has just been a Conference type of week! 📝📚 I learned sooo much. One of the things I took from conference was the feeling of urgency I had to learn the language of the spirit. To learn to recognize and respond to the promptings I receive. Not only that, but to be aware and seeking of that spiritual guidance. If there is anytime in my life that I were to learn that the best time would be now. While I am on a mission. If I don't learn it now, would I take the time and effort to do it later? When? What better time than now. That is going to be at the top of my goals for the rest of my mission. And hopefully the rest of my life. I want to be a first responder. 👩🏻‍🚒👮🏻‍♀️
I also LOVED something C. Scott Grow said. He said the Savior enables us to know Him by becoming like Him. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this. What better way to know the savior than to become like Him.

💕I LOVE this gospel and I LOVE sharing my testimony and helping others recognize the importance of making and keeping sacred covenants with God. The importance of knowing the Savior and becoming like Him. I had this thought and my brain just started singing, "I know who I am. I know God's Plan." It hit me so hard. I know who I am. How blessed I am to know who I am. I am a daughter of God. You are a child of our Heavenly Father. The king of the Heavens! He who is the author of the plan of our salvation. Of our happiness. Of mercy. You are His child. YOU ARE ELECT! How wonderful it is that we know God's plan! I belong to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am more than grateful for this identity and purpose. If you know this, learn more. You will never comprehend the Atonement 100%. Keep studying. Keep walking. If you are wondering what all this means to you, email me. I would LOVE to talk to ya about it. I'm serious. Maybe we could call and chat for a bit. Please talk to me. This truth is so important and like I said, I LOVE talking about it! ❤️ ☺️

One more thing! :D Again I really really want you to go to Mormon.org and watch the video that comes up. It's so good! And that is what I'll be showing to everyone I see this coming week so I'd LOVE to hear your comments and suggestions!
