Chico...so many changes~

Hey Faaaaam! Soooo many new things!

Emma Robertson, Sister Cowden and I

Numero Uno. I've left Rocklin! Sister Cowden and I both left. This is what's called getting shotgunned out because the new missionaries have to figure everything out on there own. Sooo... we had lots of fun leaving as many notes as we could. Sister Cowden and I had an awesome last week! We taught and then when we found out we were both leaving we tried to say bye and explain the situation to as many people as we could, all the while having fun. This was an awesome transfer in Rocklin with Sister Cowden and I miss my friends made there.
But...
Numero Dos. I've been assigned to Chico! And I am shotgunning (you know, coming in with another missionary both fresh to the area with no guidance). Hahaha And I'm double covering again. I'm serving in a Spanish branch and an English Ward. No. I don't speak Spanish. My companion does. And I'm trying my hardest to learn. It's been an adventure for sure.

Sister Orton and I

My companion is Sister Orton! I've already lived with her for 4.5 months in the Gridley house which had the Spanish sisters in it. I love her so so much. We're so excited to tackle Chico together and harvest the awesome work the sisters before us did.
We have two people on date in the spanish Ward. They are this sweet couple that I just love sooo much! Miguel and Blanca. Hey don't know any English so I feel bad, but right now my companion is doing the teaching. But I just try to love them. The former branch president said that his wife didn't speak Spanish, but that she could hug in spanish. So I've taken that to action and remembered that love is the universal language. I just love them so much and hope that I can learn enough Spanish to help soon. After my first Sunday, my companion taught me enough Spanish to help me pray. So hopefully I get the chance to incorporate that. :)

We also are working with this girl named Yaiza! She is the sweetest! I love her so much! She has been taught by the missionaries for just a couple months now and has had previous baptismal dates. It is really sweet to watch as she shows her testimony of the gospel by making the changes she feels she needs. She comes to church every week and has lessons with us and came to a dinner last night with us and bishop! It was so much fun. I just love getting to know her and getting to know this Ward.
We go over to this guy Tony's house every day for 10 minutes. He just got out of the hospital and is pretty much on his own. We go to encourage him in his effort in the changes he is making. He came to church yesterday! So yay! That was exciting! But he was pretty wiped out and exhausted. I'm so proud of him. It is so much fun to just love people!

We met this Spanish family in Corning that are just soo awesome. It was kind of a miracle how we met them. We had no idea they were members because they attend the Corning Ward. But it just happened to be just what both the family and we needed. It was so awesome. Earlier that day we talked to a Spanish guy for 45 minutes that basically told us we were going to hell because we were teaching false doctrine.... sooo it's not that big of a deal, but we were in need of a tender mercy.
 Paradise is beautiful! It has this giant canyon that runs along the road. It is gorgeous! We cover the stake for Spanish so we go a bit of everywhere. Chico and all the little towns around it are all pretty much super sketch though. Haha coming from Rocklin to Chico Spanish has definitely been a turn of tables. It's taken some time to adjust. Also... today in Paradise we accidentally met this really interesting man named Ken...

Just thought I would get that down on the books. In Hamilton City we went down an alley looking for a certain house with an address number and Sister Orton says hey there's 4-2-0! I look over and spray painted there is a 420 on a wooden fence next to some painted Spanish words. Quickly she says oh... I just laughed and we got out of there and never found that house.... we later found this really really sketchy public restroom... hahaha I'll just have to send pics....I share we're smart and safe. It's an adventure out here. Everyday we have a new catastrophe, but it's a good thing Sister Orton and I are pretty good at laughing things off. 😄


Sorry this email is a little scattered! Chico has been full of miracles since we've gotten here. We've had some mishaps and many tender mercies. I am so very grateful to be here serving God. I am happy to be where the mission president needs me. I am so excited to be in Chico again. I love getting to attend a branch again. I really missed it. I definitely have a partialness to small branches. I miss mine back at home and think of it often.

 I know that we are being watched over and taken care of. I am learning more and more about the gospel still!!! My testimony of the plan of salvation is growing. I have a testimony of Joseph Smith and the work that God had him do at the perfect timing. And because Joseph Smith was that vessel for God we have knowledge of God's plan for us. We have clarification on doctrine. We know God is our father and loves us and we know that Jesus Christ is our brother and also loves us. We know that we can have the Holy Spirit with us always. I am grateful for this and I love sharing it.
